It’s not going to be the biggest transfer window in Liverpool’s history, but they might buy a player. That’s the hot news coming out of Anfield. As leads go, we’ll freely admit the Rumour Mill has published stronger, and with more detail to boot. But like Jürgen Klopp, you work with what you’ve got.
On to news featuring actual specifics. And popular Manchester United pen-pusher Ed Woodward will make the sacrifice of not joining the club for their summer tour, preferring instead to stay wedged behind his desk at Old Trafford wearing an uneasy smile, occasionally using the phone to ask his secretary for tea and biscuits, make contacts, etc. He’s confident of getting a high-powered business deal over the line for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, concluding top-level negotiations for Leicester’s Harry Maguire, and sealing a highly-professional agreement with a contract, printed on really nice paper, for Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon.
Some of hard bargaining will be offset by not getting quite as much money as he wants from Internazionale for Romelu Lukaku, but nobody’s perfect. United’s year-long search for a director of football continues apace, by the way.
Toby Alderweireld‘s release clause of £25m runs out at the end of the week. At which point Tottenham will start asking possible suitors for £40m. You have got to admire Daniel Levy. He’s also managed to get PSG interested in Danny Rose, already a target for Juventus. The bidding starts at £20m and won’t end there, we’ll be bound.

Club set to restart talks with West Ham over signing Hammers player this window
Galatasaray are again interested in signing West Ham United forward Javier Hernandez.
The Turkish giants were linked with a move for Hernandez earlier in this transfer window but their interest in the Mexican had cooled in recent weeks.
According to the Turkish newspaper, Galatasaray want to bring in the player and talks between the two clubs are set to restart in the coming days.
Hernandez is also reportedly looking for ways to leave the Hammers and he may be tempted to continue his career at Galatasaray next season. The Super Lig club can offer the Mexico international Champions League football in the next campaign after again winning the league.
Star believe Hernandez will leave West Ham this summer after the Premier League side confirmed the arrival of Sebastien Haller from Frankfurt for a club record fee.
Gala are in the market for a striker with their current No.1 forward Mbaye Diagne close to leaving the club to join Al-Nassr.
Hernandez has just 12 months left on his contract with West Ham.

Turkish swap deal dismissed as Obiang arrives in Italy
According to Turkish media, West Ham have offered Pedro Obiang in a swap deal to sign Besiktas midfielder Gary Medel.
Turkish website Posta has made bold claims that Besiktas’ are only looking to accept offers in excess of €5m for Medel and that West Ham has offered Obiang to the Super Lig club in exchange for Medel. The report claims Besiktas have reportedly asked for time to think about the offer.
These Turkish media claims are utterly ridiculous as Obiang has made it clear he only wants to move to Italy where he has family and would have no interest what so ever in a move to Turkey. While they might be some interest in Medel, Obiang is undergoing a medical in Italy today and is expected to complete an €8m transfer to Serie A club Sassuolo by the end of the week.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has recently published a photo of Pedro arriving in Italy this morning which seems to underline the foolishness of the report from Turkey.
